Softnecks are known for braiding and for their exceptionally long storage life.
Western Rose is mild to moderate in garlic flavour, and has many small cloves that are easy to peel. Expect 12-15 very small to medium cloves per bulb, and a storage life of up 8-12 months if stored in the right conditions.
Softneck garlics can be trickier to grow on the west coast, and are harvested earlier than hardnecks. You want to pull these ones when there is just one or two yellowing leaves. Braid them to cure and then keep the braid in storage to cut one bulb at a time to use as needed.
