Ray's Special has been known to have an intense garlic flavour. This is a porcelain variety so the paper is creamy white with shades of brown and purple. The cloves are medium to large size in each bulb, with 4-6 cloves per bulb. Porcelains have great storage qualities as well due to the extra thick skin on the cloves (this also makes them harder to peel though). This is another porcelain that has done very well for us in the gulf islands.
Medium size bulbs are 1.75"-2"; 10-14 bulbs/lb.
Large size bulbs are 2"-2.5"; 6-10 bulbs/lb. - this is the ideal size for planting
Extra Large size bulbs are 2.5"-3.5"; 4-6 bulbs/lb.
